PROGRESSIVE GLASSES

Progressive glasses are an ideal solution to the discomfort caused by presbyopia, which most often appears around the age of 40. Their greatest advantage is the fact that they enable sharp, clear vision at any distance and in any situation. This is made possible by the construction of glasses, which consist of the so-called viewing zones corresponding to different viewing distances. To put it simply, we can divide a progressive lens into three fields. The upper part is responsible for clear distance vision, while the lower one allows for sharp and comfortable vision at close distances (approx. 40 cm). In the middle there is the so-called middle zone, which allows good vision of intermediate distances, e.g. monitors (approx. 1.5-2 m). Progressive glasses are characterized by comprehensiveness, maximum convenience and comfort of use throughout the day.

Please remember that progressive glasses require visual adaptation resulting from the advanced design of spectacle lenses. However, you should not be afraid of this, just give yourself a little time and patience. During the adaptation period, attitude is very important, you may experience discomfort in the first days of use, but the effort and patience will definitely pay off! Nowadays, with enormous technological progress in the world of optics, progressive glasses have many options for the construction of eyeglass lenses and are personalized for each customer. Thanks to various designs and parameters, specialists are able to select and recommend glasses that meet 100% of the visual expectations of a given patient. Progressive lenses are comfortable and easy to get used to, and their users will never want to give up the versatility offered by such glasses! However, if you have any concerns, we encourage you to talk to a specialist at the Focus Optical Salon, who will thoroughly explain how progressive lenses work. He will compare the available lenses on the market and recommend the best solution for you! Each customer is different and has different expectations for their glasses. The employees of the Focus Optical Salon will do everything to ensure that you can enjoy perfect vision in every situation!

There are several contraindications to the use of progressive glasses. These are quite rare cases, but if we have disorders in the functioning of the labyrinth, macular degeneration (AMD), abnormal peripheral vision or we struggle with eye and visual system diseases that cause our refraction to undergo dynamic changes, progressive lenses will not necessarily be the best solution . If the vision defect is non-standard, we have concerns and doubts, it is best to consult a specialist and discuss this topic. Of course, we encourage you to consult an optometrist at the Focus Optical Salon, because a thorough and thorough eye examination is the basis for properly made progressive glasses. The selection of the appropriate design of progressive lenses begins in the optometrist’s office, during an interview and conversation about the patient’s expectations. Working mode, electronic devices used during the day, hobbies and interests are very important.

Progressive glasses, like all other glasses, require replacement after about 2-3 years. A lot depends on the pace at which the vision defect progresses and changes. In the case of properly selected progressive glasses, we do not experience sudden and rapid changes in the visual system. Additionally, we have perfect correction and visual acuity throughout the day and in every situation, and our visual system does not have to work additionally.

However, remember that presbyopia cannot be avoided or stopped. In order to check your visual system, it is worth having your eyes checked by an optometrist or ophthalmologist once a year. In this way, we will prevent the vision defect from getting worse and we will know when to change the lenses in our glasses.

We strongly encourage you to check out our offer of progressive lenses in our salons!
